Edouard Colassin is an artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, digital art, 3D art and music.
Raised by a father who is himself an artist, Edouard grew up surrounded by creativity. Encouraged to draw from an early age, he began with ballpoint pen drawings on paper before moving on to large-scale paintings on canvas, digital drawing and 3D art.
His ambition has always been to become as versatile an artist as possible. This drive also led him to make music, releasing several EPs on Spotify and accompanying music videos. Across these different forms of expression, he continues to step outside his comfort zone, challenge himself and push his creative limits.
Deeply curious, Edouard thrives on self-directed learning. He enjoys seeking out knowledge, experimenting with unfamiliar techniques and meeting established figures in their fields to learn from their experience, whether in music or painting.
Over the years, he has collaborated with artists from the French-speaking music scene, including Damso, Kaaris, La Fouine, Ninho and Fianso. His work has also received attention and recognition from Chris Brown, reflecting the connection between his artistic world and contemporary music and culture.
Among his inspirations are René Magritte and Salvador Dalí, whose surrealism and freedom of thought resonate deeply with him. Having grown up in Brussels, Edouard had the opportunity to see Magritte’s works firsthand, forming a connection with an artist from his own country.
What fascinates him is the way technical rigour and precision coexist with dreamlike distortions of reality. Recognisable forms become gateways to the imaginary, where familiar scenes take unexpected turns.
This interplay runs through his own paintings, where wild imagery and chaos find their place within a sense of structure and harmony.
Through his work, Edouard invites viewers to step into worlds where imagination reshapes reality, leaving room for each person to discover their own emotions, stories and meanings.
At the heart of his work lies resilience: the ability to remain strong and serene amid chaos. Drawing on his own life experiences and the emotional impact of trauma he has witnessed in others, he explores how vulnerability and inner strength can coexist. His paintings reflect this search for balance, portraying a sense of calm and resolve within turbulent, unpredictable worlds.
Having already exhibited three times in Brussels, Edouard now hopes to bring his work to an international audience. His dream is to exhibit around the world, sharing his artistic vision beyond borders. The story continues.
